April Lockhart

April Lockhart, born in 1995 on July 4th July. She began piano and guitar lessons from age seven. The passion for writing songs was ignited. April's first song was Different which she composed when she was 12 years old. At the age of 14, April spent a lot of time in making song lyrics and working on her musical skills. Then she began to take trips to write with her father, who lived in NY and LA. April also began incorporating various other topics relevant to the song, which she called the Take my Hand song for some acquaintances, including peer pressure issues and suicide among teens. Lockhart also enjoys an increasing following as a lifestyle influencer and is employed by the renowned Clean Beauty company Ilia. She was born with no left hand. This is what makes her different. It's not the only thing about her. Lockhart's Instagram page doesn't overlook the fact that she has a disability. It also doesn't make it a point to emphasize her disability. The profile is a statement. There is more to us than the physical person we are. Our identities are complicated and encompass a variety of aspects. Lockhart, via video message from Nashville home, states that I do not want that to be a part of my character. I am far more than just my physical self. My day-today life is not affected by it. I live my normal day-to-day life and discover my own solutions to problems. However, I also consider that it is a crucial component of my life. Lockhart encourages us to keep going with self-acceptance. Still she admits she's gone through phases of her body and sometimes feeling insecure to wear certain types of clothing showing off her arms. Now she wears whatever outfit she wants and posts pictures on Facebook in awe. For her, self-love is a long process. The same is true for everybody regardless of their degree of self-confidence. I believe having friends with you who are aware of you and know your heart is really important since they'll be those that remind you of what are you worried about?
