Laura Linney, best known for portraying strong, but vulnerable characters, is one of the most celebrated American actors of the present. Her father was a celebrated playwright. However, Linney was raised as a single child with a single mother and nurse. In the summer when she was with her father, Linney developed a passion for theatre. Linney eventually pursued acting first in Brown University then at Juilliard School. She began her Broadway career after her graduation, and then made her debut on television the following year. Since then she's been in many TV productions, films as well as stage productions. In her professional career, she has won many awards, including the two Golden Globe Awards. In spite of numerous awards the theatre is still her first love and she is still appearing on screen and on stage.
